We ride from Bordeaux Bakery on Thorndon Quay, weather permitting, every Saturday at 8am or 9am. Extra rides are planned around public holidays. After the ride, those who wish to, stop over at Bordeaux for a coffee and post ride chat.
We also enter a number of organised rides throughout the year with the main focus on the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
We have some social events throughout the year that cyclists and partners can attend if they wish.
Every year SANZ organises a weekend of riding over the Remutakas to Greytown. These happen in spring time, around September or October, and are good for those training for the Lake Taupo Challenge.
Most years you'll find SANZ members riding The Grape Ride, the Lake Taupo Challenge, K2, the Auckland to Wellington tour and doing their bit for the Climbing for Charity and the Wairarapa Charity Weekend and Bush Classic too.
Over the years there have been many longer rides enjoyed by SANZ members. Organised by Karl Woolcott of Ride Holidays, especially for SANZ members, these cycling tours have been to exotic lands including Australia, Vietnam, Cuba, France, Spain and Portugal.
We have ridden some of the most famous climbs in France while witnessing the greatest sporting event on the planet - the Tour de France
Starting in the south at Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) and finishing in the north at Hanoi, we rode the entire length of Vietnam over 15 days
Circling and cycling we saw most of Cuba
